169 Illegal Structures Demolished In Worli’s Madraswadi Area
BMC’s G-South Ward Launches Massive Demolition Drive Near Mumbai Coastal Road
Mumbai | October 2025: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has carried out a large-scale demolition drive at Madraswadi, Worli, removing 169 illegal constructions situated near the Dharmaveer Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road Project.
The action, led by the G-South Ward, comes under the direct instructions of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani and the guidance of Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. Ashwini Joshi. The initiative aims to enforce urban planning laws and curb the spread of unauthorized settlements obstructing civic infrastructure.
Operation Supervised By Senior Civic Officers
The demolition drive was executed under the supervision of Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Zone II) Prashant Sapkale and Assistant Municipal Commissioner (G-South) Swapnaja Kshirsagar.
A total of 35 personnel and multiple demolition machines were deployed for the operation. The Worli Police Station provided adequate security during the exercise to prevent resistance or disruption.
Targeting Encroachments Causing Urban Flooding
Officials noted that many of the demolished structures had blocked drainage channels, leading to waterlogging in Madraswadi during heavy rains. The BMC clarified that such operations are part of its continuous campaign against illegal constructions and encroachments across Mumbai.
Municipal authorities reiterated that similar enforcement actions will continue in other parts of the city to ensure compliance with civic and environmental norms.
