Ajit Pawar Assures No Injustice To Qureshi Traders, Farmers
Community Calls Off Strike After Deputy CM’s Intervention
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has assured that the Qureshi community, traditionally engaged in the meat trade and linked to Maharashtra’s agriculture-based economy, will not face injustice. He emphasised that both traders and farmers involved in cattle transportation will be protected.
The assurance came during a meeting at Mantralaya chaired by Pawar, where representatives of various Qureshi organisations presented their concerns. Pawar immediately discussed the matter over phone with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, highlighting the difficulties faced during cattle transportation. He requested the Union Minister to hold talks with Qureshi delegations and consider amending related laws.

Pawar appealed to the community to withdraw their strike, assuring government efforts to address their grievances. Representatives responded positively and announced they were calling off the strike.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Sana Malik, Sanjay Khotke, former minister Nawab Malik, DGP Rashmi Shukla, Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharati, and representatives from several Qureshi associations, including Federation of Maharashtrian Muslim, Mumbai Aman Committee, Al-Quresh Social Development Board, All India Jamiatul Quresh, and All Maharashtra Jamiatul Quresh.
