Tata-Led Skill Development Centre In Roha To Create Bright Job Opportunities
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar stresses on advanced technology and AI-driven training for youth employment
Raigad | August 2: Maharashtra’s industrial and educational landscape is set for a major boost as the state government, in collaboration with the Tata Group, has launched an ambitious Skill Development Centre in Roha, Raigad. The project, expected to be completed by May 2026, aims to train 3,000 students annually, preparing them for high-quality employment opportunities in advanced technology sectors.
The foundation stone of the Tata-operated centre was laid by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, who emphasized the growing role of artificial intelligence and modern technology across industries. “This centre will empower students, small and medium industries, and professionals with world-class training, creating a new generation of skilled workforce,” Pawar said.
A Partnership For Future Growt
The centre is being developed jointly by Tata Technologies, MIDC, and Roha Municipal Council, with strong political support from MP Sunil Tatkare. The initiative has been described as one of the most significant educational-industrial collaborations in the region.
Minister Aditi Tatkare highlighted that the project will strengthen the industrial base of Roha MIDC, which already has a stable record of low industry migration. She stressed that entrepreneurship, innovation, and high-level skill programs would flourish under this initiative.
Local Benefits And Employment
According to Pawar, the centre will not only generate jobs but also ensure that local youth find employment in their own region, reducing migration. The training modules will be aligned with industry requirements, offering practical, job-oriented courses.
MP Sunil Tatkare reiterated that the Tata Group has assured timely completion within six months for some phases of the project. “Educational institutions must collaborate with the centre to maximize its impact,” he urged.
During the ceremony, property ownership documents (Swamitva Sanad) were distributed to five villagers as part of land mapping initiatives, along with property allotments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for regularized encroachments.
A Landmark Project For Raiga
The Skill Development Centre is expected to become a regional hub for advanced technical training, particularly in sectors like AI, automation, and modern manufacturing. Officials confirmed that plans are underway to replicate such centres across other districts of Maharashtra.
The event saw participation from Minister Aditi Tatkare, former MLA Aniket Tatkare, district officials, police administration, Tata Technologies leadership, and hundreds of citizens, marking the project as a milestone for Raigad’s educational and industrial progress.
