MLA Vilas Tare Demands Immediate Compensation For Palghar Flood Victims
Memorandum Submitted To District Collector Indurani Jakhad Seeking Relief And Rehabilitation Measures
Palghar: MLA Vilas Tare has urged the administration to immediately conduct damage assessment (panchanama) and provide compensation to families affected by the recent heavy rainfall in Palghar district, Vasai, and Boisar–Tarapur MIDC areas. He submitted a memorandum to District Collector Indurani Jakhad, calling for urgent relief and rehabilitation measures.
Tare said continuous downpours have severely disrupted rural and urban life, forcing several villagers to abandon their homes due to waterlogging. Kuccha houses, huts, household goods, roads, and agricultural fields have been badly damaged. Supply of essential commodities has also been hit, while drinking water shortages have raised health concerns. Farmers are facing heavy losses as paddy, vegetables, and fruit orchards remain submerged. The stagnant water has further triggered mosquito breeding and disease threats, putting children, women, and the elderly at risk.
MLA’s Key Demands
- Supply of food grains, pulses, oil, and essentials through PDS shops.
- Immediate survey and compensation for affected families, including shelter, clothes, and essentials.
- Revenue Department to conduct crop loss assessment and release crop insurance/financial aid.
- Deployment of health teams and medical camps with adequate medicines.
- Emergency cleaning and drainage works in coordination with gram panchayats and municipal bodies.
- Use of District Disaster Management funds for urgent financial assistance.
- Boisar–Tarapur MIDC to repair roads and ensure sanitation measures.
Calling Palghar and Vasai–Boisar a densely populated industrial belt, Tare stressed that unless the administration acts swiftly, the humanitarian crisis could worsen. He demanded that district authorities provide immediate relief to flood-hit families and restore normalcy.
