Municipal Commissioner Radha Binod Sharma Inspects Preparations Ahead Of Festival Immersion Days
Mira-Bhayandar, August 26: In a strong push towards eco-friendly celebrations, the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has announced extensive preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 immersions, including the setting up of 33 artificial ponds across the city.
The inspection drive was led under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radha Binod A. Sharma (IAS). Senior officials including Additional Commissioners Dr. Sambhaji Panpatte and Priyanka Rajput, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Chavan (IPS), and City Engineer Deepak Khambit visited major immersion points such as Kashimira Jarimari Talav, Satkari Talav (Mira Road), Saidatt Talav (Penkarpada), Shivar Garden Talav, Jesal Park Chowpatty, Bhayandar West Chowpatty, Rai Talav, and Murda Talav.
Safety, Cleanliness, And Facilities In Focus
During the inspection, authorities reviewed facilities being set up for citizens, including safety arrangements, medical aid, police deployment, electricity and lighting systems, and strict cleanliness measures. Officials instructed all departments to maintain a state of readiness throughout the immersion days.
In addition to the artificial ponds, special collection centres for Ganesh idols have been created, and the immersion of idols below six feet in height has been made mandatory at artificial ponds. Citizens have also been urged to cooperate by ensuring that puja materials and nirmalya (floral waste) are not thrown into water bodies, but instead handed over at designated collection points.
Civic Appeal For Eco-Friendly Celebrations
The MBMC administration emphasized that no plastic waste should be dumped in seas, creeks, or lakes, and citizens should immerse idols only under the guidance of civic and police authorities to maintain discipline. Officials reminded that Ganesh Chaturthi is not only a cultural and spiritual festival but also a platform to promote social unity and environmental protection.
“We appeal to all devotees to celebrate the festival responsibly, giving priority to cleanliness, safety, and eco-conscious practices. Together, we can make Ganeshotsav 2025 a truly eco-friendly celebration,” the civic administration stated in its public message.
Community Cooperation Expected
With lakhs of devotees expected to participate in the festival across Mira-Bhayandar, the civic body hopes the combined efforts of officials, police, and citizens will ensure a smooth and safe immersion process
