The Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers’ Federation has elected a new executive committee for the 2025–28 term during its triennial general body meeting held at Shegaon, Buldhana district, on August 23–24, 2025.
In the elections, Nitin Kale, District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mumbai, was chosen as President; Samir Bhatkar, Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts), was elected General Secretary; and Santosh Mamdapure, Under Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry, was elected Treasurer.
The federation also elected 12 Vice Presidents, 3 Women Vice Presidents, 19 Assistant General Secretaries, and 19 Women Assistant General Secretaries representing different regions of Maharashtra.
Apex body of gazetted officers
The Federation is the umbrella body for 70 departmental associations of gazetted officers across Maharashtra, working to resolve service-related issues through dialogue with the state government. Elections for its executive are conducted every three years.
The Shegaon convention began with a tribute to the late founder and chief advisor G. D. Kulathe, followed by a report presented by outgoing president Vinod Desai on the achievements and pending demands of the past three years.
Key issues raised
During deliberations, members discussed long-pending demands including:
- Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme
- Two-year childcare leave for women employees
- Raising the retirement age to 60 years in line with Central Government rules
- Relaxation of S-20 grade pay eligibility
- Removal of pay anomalies across cadres
The newly elected executive also resolved to pursue the long-cherished dream of setting up a Federation Welfare Centre, an initiative envisioned by late Kulathe.
Moving forward
The Federation announced that it will soon complete tours across districts to fill vacant state-level positions such as Organisational Secretary, Women’s Organisational Secretary, and Public Relations Secretary. The new executive vowed to work unitedly to strengthen the Federation and address officers’ grievances in a time-bound manner.
