Maharashtra Allocates ₹150 Crore To Beed Rail Project Ahead Of Marathwada Liberation Day
Ajit Pawar Calls The Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath Railway Line A ‘Game Changer’ For Region’s Growth
The Maharashtra government has released an additional ₹150 crore for the ambitious Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath broad-gauge railway project, taking the state’s total contribution to over ₹2,091 crore so far. The fresh allocation comes just days before the Marathwada Liberation Day (17 September), when the Beed-Ahilyanagar section of the line will officially begin operations.
Deputy Chief Minister and Beed’s Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar described the move as a “historic gift” for the people of Beed, fulfilling a decades-long aspiration for improved connectivity.
A Major Infrastructure Push
The project spans 261 kilometres with a total estimated cost of ₹4,805 crore, shared equally between the Centre and the state. Maharashtra’s committed share stands at ₹2,402 crore, of which more than ₹2,091 crore has already been released, including the latest ₹150 crore sanctioned on 15 September 2025.
Officials confirmed the latest allocation will go towards covering the state’s contribution for the 2025-26 fiscal year, ensuring steady progress of the project.
Local Benefits And Economic Boost
Ajit Pawar has actively championed Beed’s infrastructure development since assuming charge as Guardian Minister, holding multiple rounds of discussions with state and district-level officials to fast-track projects. His focus, he said, has been on airports, roads, and railways, with this railway line emerging as a flagship achievement.
Once fully operational, the new route is expected to transform the region by:
- Boosting investment opportunities in Beed, Ahilyanagar, and Parli Vaijnath.
- Generating new employment in logistics, trade, and tourism.
- Improving transport access for farmers, students, small businesses, and traders.
“The Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath railway is not just a line of steel but a line of hope,” Pawar said. “It will open up investment, generate jobs, and make transport easier. This project will change the face of Beed and begin a new chapter of growth.”
With the first train set to run on the Beed-Ahilyanagar stretch on 17 September, residents see the project as both symbolic and practical progress—linking Beed more directly with Maharashtra’s economic hubs while commemorating the historic liberation of Marathwada.
