Nutrition and Learning Drive Gains Momentum in Thane — 3,381 Anganwadi Workers Undergo Training
Thane’s ICDS projects see enthusiastic participation in state-led “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” training drive empowering frontline childcare workers
Thane, October 16 (Zilla Parishad, Thane) — The Women and Child Development Department’s flagship training initiative, “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi,” has received an overwhelming response across Thane district. The program provides Anganwadi workers with comprehensive training on child nutrition, health, education, and holistic development.
Running from October 6 to December 15, 2025, the initiative has attracted 3,381 participants from all 17 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects in Thane. Each training batch includes around 100 to 105 workers, covering topics like nutrition, hygiene, early education, and child protection through both theoretical sessions and practical workshops.
The core objectives of the program are to:
- Equip Anganwadi workers with updated knowledge and skills in nutrition, hygiene, health, and educational activities;
- Strengthen their ability to support pre-school education and holistic child development;
- Empower the Anganwadi system to deliver more effective and quality services to children in both rural and urban communities.
The sessions are organized by the Thane Zilla Parishad, in collaboration with Child Development Project Officers and accredited training institutions. Adequate facilities have been arranged at training venues, with subject experts providing in-depth guidance.
District Programme Officer Sanjay Bagul noted, “The ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ training is progressing successfully across Thane. By upgrading the skills and methodologies of Anganwadi workers, we are preparing them to deliver enhanced services — a crucial step toward securing the bright future of rural children.”
The initiative has infused fresh energy into Thane’s child development and education ecosystem. Through sustained efforts, the Women and Child Development Department and Thane Zilla Parishad aim to strengthen community-based childcare, improve service quality, and ensure every child receives a foundation of good health and learning.
