Tahane, June 2, 2025 — In a concerted effort to ensure monsoon preparedness, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik and Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod Sharma (IAS) conducted a joint inspection of critical drainage sites across the city on Monday.

The review focused on assessing the status and quality of ongoing pre-monsoon drain-cleaning operations. The inspection began near S.N. College and continued to the open drain near Sai Palace, with both leaders taking stock of the current condition and the extent of desilting work completed.

Accompanied by senior municipal officials, engineers, and zonal officers, the duo examined whether cleaning operations were proceeding according to schedule and meeting the required quality standards.

Minister Sarnaik stressed the importance of timely and systematic execution of all monsoon-related infrastructure work, underscoring that negligence would not be tolerated. “Drain cleaning must be completed on time, with no compromise on quality. Citizens should not face flooding or inconvenience due to administrative lapses,” he said.

Commissioner Sharma echoed the sentiment, urging officials to prioritize preventive measures. Both officials also issued directives for immediate cleaning of culverts along the national highway and instructed all departments to remain on high alert in the run-up to the monsoon season.

The joint visit was part of a broader civic effort to ensure Mira-Bhayandar is fully prepared to handle seasonal rains, with a clear emphasis on accountability and efficient execution.
