Passengers Killed in Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Pays Tribute
Mumbai, Date 12: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic crash of an Air India flight that was en route to London from Ahmedabad. The aircraft reportedly crashed into residential buildings shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, resulting in multiple fatalities among passengers and local residents.
Calling the incident “shocking, painful, and unfortunate,” Deputy CM Pawar conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He stated that not only Gujarat but the entire nation—including Maharashtra—mourns this devastating loss.
In his official condolence message, Deputy CM Pawar said, “The accident involving the Air India flight soon after takeoff has left the country in grief. Despite swift response and relief efforts by Gujarat Police, fire brigade, ambulance services, medical teams, and security forces, the scale of the tragedy is immense. The loss of so many lives is irreparable.”
He emphasized that the exact cause of the crash remains unknown and will become clear only after a thorough investigation. However, he stressed the need for immediate measures to prevent such catastrophic events in the future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken serious cognizance of the incident and has dispatched Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Gujarat to coordinate with the state administration and gather a detailed report from the Chief Minister.
Deputy CM Pawar further called on airlines to “urgently review the safety of their flight operations” and strictly adhere to aviation safety standards to avert similar tragedies.
Currently on a visit to Akola and Buldhana districts, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar observed simplicity in all his scheduled programs as a mark of respect and paid heartfelt tributes to the deceased passengers.
