Meritorious SSC students and dedicated teachers from Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) schools were felicitated at a grand ceremony held at the Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium on June 17, 2025.

Organized by the MBMC Education Department under the guidance and presence of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Mr. Radhabinod Sharma (IAS), the event celebrated the remarkable academic performance of students from MBMC-run schools as well as aided and unaided institutions.

Additional Commissioner Dr. Sambhaji Panpatte, Deputy Commissioner (HQ) Kalpita Pimpale, Deputy Commissioner Prasad Shingte, Assistant Commissioner (Education) Deepali Pawar-Joshi, school principals, teachers, students, and parents attended the function in large numbers.

MBMC’s Expanding Educational Landscape

Currently, 366 schools operate within the Mira-Bhayander Municipal limits, educating nearly 1,50,000 students, including both government and private institutions. Of these, 36 schools are directly run by the Municipal Corporation, offering free and quality education to approximately 10,000 students. These schools have embraced digital learning infrastructure, with classrooms equipped with smart boards, projectors, internet connectivity, and modern pedagogical tools — significantly enhancing student engagement and academic outcomes.

Though the SSC division in MBMC schools was introduced just two years ago, the students have exceeded expectations. In 2023-24, the first-ever batch appeared for the SSC examination with a pass percentage of 65%. Remarkably, this has leaped to 90.45% in 2024-25 — a testament to the effective implementation of MBMC’s educational policies and the tireless dedication of its teaching staff.

Behind the Success: Mentorship, Microplanning, and Emotional Support

This notable improvement stems from a well-planned and compassionate approach adopted by the education department. A thorough review and introspection of academic challenges faced by students — including late admissions, financial hardships, domestic responsibilities, and lack of learning resources — led to the implementation of targeted interventions.

Under the Mentorship Program, each teacher adopted ten students, focusing intensively on study planning, homework monitoring, doubt-solving, emotional support, and personal challenges. This initiative significantly strengthened the student-teacher bond.

Additionally, timely distribution of study material, provision of guides, notes, probable questions, and practice papers, and regular subject-wise tests and mock exams equipped students with the tools they needed for success. For academically weaker students in key subjects, special tuition teachers were appointed to provide focused learning support.

Celebrating Academic Excellence and Inclusive Education

The felicitation ceremony not only honored high-achieving students but also recognized the contributions of teachers and the determination of differently-abled students. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sharma advised students that in today’s competitive world, choosing the right career path is vital, but equally important is choosing a direction aligned with one’s passion and personality. He emphasized that consistent academic effort, self-confidence, and a positive mindset are the true cornerstones of success.

Mr. Sharma concluded by stating that the felicitation event was not just a celebration of academic success, but a milestone reflecting the positive transformation in Mira-Bhayander’s education system led by the municipal administration.
