CEO Ranjit Yadav Pushes for Discipline, Speed and Accountability in Thane’s Health Administration

Zilla Parishad reviews health machinery, issues firm directives on Sickle Cell drive and 100% Ayushman coverage

In a strong push to transform public healthcare delivery, Ranjit Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Thane, has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards delays, inefficiency and poor outcomes in the district’s health administration.

On 22 December 2025, the Health Committee meeting, followed by a separate Executive Committee meeting, was held under his chairmanship, during which a comprehensive, objective and planning-oriented review of the district health machinery was conducted.

Health Services Must Reach Citizens in Real Terms, Not Just on Paper

During the meetings, CEO Ranjit Yadav reviewed all health schemes and programmes, available human resources, and physical and medical infrastructure being implemented through the district health department. He stressed that healthcare delivery should not remain confined to statistics and reports, but must translate into visible, high-quality services for citizens.

He issued clear instructions for strict planning, effective implementation and continuous monitoring of key public health programmes, underlining that discipline, speed and result-oriented governance are essential to improve outcomes.

Focused Review of Key Health Programmes

A detailed, programme-wise assessment was undertaken, including:

  • Non-Communicable Disease Control Programme
  • Tuberculosis, Malaria and Leprosy Control
  • Sickle Cell Disease Programme
  • National Child Health Programme
  • Malnutrition Eradication Initiatives
  • Cataract Surgery Programme

For each initiative, officials were instructed to ensure time-bound target achievement, field-level supervision and accountability at every stage.

Clear Orders on Sickle Cell Awareness Campaign

Issuing firm and time-bound directions, the CEO announced that the Sickle Cell Awareness and Screening Campaign will be implemented across Thane district from 15 January to 31 January 2026, in line with State Government guidelines.

Under the campaign, citizens aged 0 to 40 years will be screened, with explicit instructions that not a single eligible beneficiary should be left out.

🩺 “Our goal is to make Thane a Sickle Cell-free district,” Yadav asserted, calling for micro-level planning, aggressive field implementation and widespread public awareness. He directed officials to utilise multiple communication platforms, from village-level outreach to urban campaigns, to ensure maximum participation.

100% Ayushman Bharat Coverage Ordered

The CEO also laid strong emphasis on achieving 100% distribution of Ayushman cards under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He instructed departments to conduct special coordinated drives so that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of health insurance benefits.

Health Indicators: Thane Must Not Lag Behind

Stressing accountability, Yadav stated that Thane district must not fall behind in state-level health indicators under any circumstances. He reminded officers and staff that providing timely, accessible and quality healthcare is the highest responsibility of the administration, and called upon everyone to work with dedication and ownership.

Senior Health Officials Present

The meetings were attended by senior officials including District Health Officer Dr. Gangadhar Parge, Assistant District Health Officer Dr. Dinesh Sutar, District Maternal and Child Health Officer Dr. Swati Shinde, Assistant Director (Leprosy) Dr. Manish Renge, Resident Medical Officer Dr. Mrunal Rahud, District AYUSH Officer Dr. Balaji Gavade, along with all Taluka Health Officers, Medical Superintendents, programme managers, coordinators and health staff.

Towards a More Responsive Health System

The decisive stance taken by the Zilla Parishad leadership signals a renewed focus on performance-driven public healthcare, with clear expectations of measurable outcomes, transparency and citizen-centric service delivery across Thane district.
