With massive MoUs and infrastructure push, Maharashtra eyes global leadership in startups, green tech, and manufacturing

Mumbai, June 25, 2025: In a sweeping display of economic ambition, Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the “Maharashtra Industry Dialogue 2025” at BKC’s Jio Convention Centre, highlighting the state’s robust strides in industrial growth, foreign investment, and future-ready infrastructure. The event, organized by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), saw the convergence of government leaders, industrialists, and investors, with a clear message: Maharashtra is open for global business.

Governor Radhakrishnan praised the state for contributing over 14% to India’s GDP and securing 40% of India’s total FDI in 2024-25, amounting to ₹1.64 lakh crore. He described Maharashtra as India’s startup capital, underlining its skilled youth power and growing relevance to international labour markets.

He urged universities to introduce foreign language programs—German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish—to facilitate international employability. Emphasizing connectivity, he cited how projects like Vadhavan Port and the Navi Mumbai International Airport would boost Maharashtra’s global trade footprint.

In a significant announcement, the Governor confirmed Maharashtra’s signing of ₹15.72 lakh crore in MoUs at the World Economic Forum in Davos, potentially creating 15 lakh jobs. He also noted the state’s 82.63 lakh registered MSMEs, making it India’s largest base, and praised the launch of the Maharashtra Technical Textiles Mission as a leap in innovation.
