Mira-Bhayandar Civic Body Intensifies Dust Control Drive to Improve Air Quality

Regular Water Sprinkling on Major Roads Aims to Curb Pollution and Protect Public Health

Mira-Bhayandar,– In a focused push to improve air quality and safeguard public health, the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has accelerated its dust control campaign across the city, responding to rising levels of airborne dust particles caused by traffic congestion, roadworks and dry weather conditions.

Acting on the directives of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod A. Sharma, the civic administration has deployed specialised dust control machines to carry out regular water sprinkling on major roads and pollution-prone areas. The initiative is aimed at reducing suspended particulate matter and ensuring a cleaner, healthier environment for residents.

On December 1, 2025, extensive water spraying was carried out along key arterial routes — from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to Fountain and the Ghodbunder (Gaimukh) stretch — where constant vehicular movement and ongoing infrastructure work have significantly contributed to dust pollution. Officials said the operation led to a visible reduction in road dust, helping improve ambient air quality.

The drive was further expanded on December 2, 2025, covering the jurisdictions of Ward Committees 03, 04, 05 and 06. Water sprinkling was conducted across important internal roads and high-risk pollution zones, with a focus on keeping dust levels under control during peak traffic hours.

Municipal officials noted that such proactive measures are crucial in urban areas where rapid development and heavy traffic often compromise environmental conditions. “Dust pollution has a direct impact on respiratory health, especially for children, senior citizens and those with pre-existing ailments. This campaign is part of our broader commitment to public well-being,” an official statement said.

The civic body has assured citizens that the dust control drive will continue in the coming weeks, alongside regular cleanliness campaigns and environmental monitoring. The administration reiterated its resolve to implement sustained and preventive measures so that residents of Mira-Bhayandar can enjoy a cleaner, safer and more breathable urban environment.
