Development works must serve the next 100 years, says Deputy CM in high-level review meet

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has directed officials to ensure that all ongoing development projects funded under the 15th Finance Commission are completed within schedule and meet high standards. He emphasized that every rupee allocated by the Central Government must be fully utilized before the end of the current financial year.

Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at Mantralaya, Pawar said the projects must be planned with a 100-year vision, ensuring long-term benefits and durability. “Not a single rupee of central assistance should go unspent. Full coordination with central agencies is essential,” he instructed.

Some of the key projects under review included:

  • Creation of an underwater museum and coral reef near Sindhudurg using the decommissioned naval ship INS Guldar, along with scuba diving facilities.
  • Construction of a Unity Mall near Navi Mumbai International Airport.
  • Development of the ‘Ram-Kal Path’ in Nashik.
  • Hostels for working women in seven major cities: Thane, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Solapur.
  • Urban and rural development programs, disaster management, and public health initiatives.
  • Projects for cultural heritage conservation, forest and wildlife management.
  • Progress on the Rewas-Redi Coastal Highway.
  • Housing initiatives for police personnel.

Senior officials from finance, planning, tourism, public health, urban development, and CIDCO attended the meeting. Pawar reiterated the state’s commitment to removing any administrative bottlenecks and ensuring that each project is executed with speed, transparency, and quality.
