Bhagwat Sonawane Appointed as Additional SP of Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau

Experienced officer takes charge, promises stronger crackdown on graft

Thane, Aug 29 – Bhagwat Sonawane has officially taken charge as the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Thane, succeeding Sanjay Govilkar, under whose tenure the unit carried out several bold operations.

Sonawane, a seasoned Maharashtra Police officer, brings extensive experience in investigating crime and corruption-related cases. He has previously served with distinction in the Navi Mumbai ACB as Deputy Superintendent of Police, where he spearheaded several anti-bribery operations. His career also spans postings as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Panvel Division, Nagpur, Mumbai, Nashik, and across rural Maharashtra.

Known for his proactive approach, Sonawane is expected to enhance the bureau’s transparency and efficiency. Working under the guidance of ACB Superintendent Shivraj Patil, his appointment is seen as a boost to ongoing anti-graft campaigns across Thane district.

Officials believe his leadership will help strengthen the fight against corruption and bring greater accountability in public services.
