BMC’s Services for Followers on Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas Praised as Exemplary
Dr Bhimrao Yashwantrao Ambedkar Commends Civic Efforts; ‘Deepstambh’ Information Booklet Released at Dadar
The consistent efforts of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to enhance facilities for the lakhs of followers visiting Chaityabhoomi (Dadar) on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas each year have been described as highly commendable by Dr Bhimrao Yashwantrao Ambedkar, Working President of the Bharatiya Bauddha Mahasabha and President of the Samata Sainik Dal.
Speaking at the launch of ‘Deepstambh’, an annual information booklet published by BMC’s Public Relations Department, Dr Ambedkar praised the civic body for steadily improving citizen services and ensuring that followers receive timely, accurate and helpful information about facilities made available during the observance.
The booklet was released today (5 December 2025) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan, Dadar, in the presence of Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr (Smt.) Ashwini Joshi and Dr Bhimrao Yashwantrao Ambedkar. The publication highlights Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s educational ideals and a wide range of government schemes aimed at students from various social backgrounds.
Senior officials present included Deputy Commissioner (Zone 2) Prashant Sapkale, Assistant Commissioner (G-North) Vinayak Vispute, and social organisation members such as Mahendra Salve, Nagsen Kamble, Pratik Kamble, Ramesh Jadhav, Ravi Garud, Bhikaji Kamble, Prakash Jadhav, among many followers and activists.
Following the launch, Dr (Smt.) Ashwini Joshi and other dignitaries visited a photo exhibition organised by the Public Relations Department. A symbolic directional balloon was also released in the sky to guide followers arriving at Chaityabhoomi.
Marking the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the 2025 edition of Deepstambh provides detailed information on civic amenities arranged by BMC across Chaityabhoomi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan and surrounding areas. The booklet also includes:
- Dr Ambedkar’s educational thoughts from his speeches
- Student-focused schemes and scholarships implemented by the State Government, Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, BARTI, universities and other institutions
- Government job-related resources, with website links
- Guidance material for students and followers visiting the memorial
