
CM Devendra Fadnavis Virtually Inaugurates South Channel of Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 on Sion-Panvel Highway
In a significant infrastructure boost for Mumbai and Navi Mumbai commuters, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today virtually inaugurated the southern channel of Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 on the Sion–Panvel Highway. The bridge is expected to substantially ease traffic congestion on the heavily burdened Vashi Bridge, benefiting lakhs of daily travelers by saving both time and fuel.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis remarked that the new bridge is a milestone in Maharashtra’s infrastructure development, asserting that its opening will enhance travel efficiency between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. He also shared updates on the much-anticipated ‘Missing Link’ project on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, assuring that its completion is near and that it will make travel between the two cities faster, safer, and smoother.
The virtual inauguration was attended by several key dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, FDA and Special Assistance Minister Narhari Jirwal, Minister of State for Public Works Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, and Thane District Collector Ashok Shingare. Senior officials including PWD Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar and MRDC Vice Chairman Anil Gaikwad were also present, alongside local MLAs Kisan Kathore, Niranjan Davkhare, and Shantaram Bhoir.
Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 – A Modern Engineering Marve
The new bridge, constructed between Mankhurd and Vashi, complements the existing two operational bridges over Thane Creek. With both northbound and southbound lanes now complete, the project enables seamless travel between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Each channel of the newly built lanes spans approximately 3.18 kilometers, making it a major feat of modern civil engineering. Built using advanced technologies in challenging creek terrain, the bridge showcases Maharashtra’s growing prowess in executing large-scale infrastructure projects.
Officials hailed the bridge as a symbol of innovation and resilience, marking it as a matter of pride for the state.
