Demolition Drive In Ghansoli Targets Illegal Construction

Navi Mumbai civic body intensifies encroachment crackdown after repeated notices ignored

Following multiple unheeded notices, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a strong demolition drive against an unauthorized structure in Ghansoli, acting under directives from Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, Additional Commissioner (Zone 2) Dr. Rahul Gethe, and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr. Kailas Gaikwad.

The civic encroachment department acted against property owner Mr. Kushalchand Gaur, residing at Room No. 502, NG Grand Plaza, Plot No. 09, Sector 11, Ghansoli. Gaur allegedly constructed an unauthorized brick room by enclosing open society space and altering the building’s layout — all without prior municipal approval or valid occupancy certificate permissions.

The construction violated provisions under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, for which due notice had been issued. However, despite warnings, the owner continued the illegal construction, prompting direct civic intervention.

Under the supervision of the Ghansoli ward office, demolition was executed using five labourers and two dump trucks, with the assistance of police personnel and encroachment staff. The unauthorized structure was completely razed to the ground.

Municipal officials emphasized that this action forms part of an ongoing anti-encroachment initiative, assuring that such illegal developments will face intensified demolition drives across Navi Mumbai.
