Deputy Chief Minister inspects ST’s smart buses in Thane

Now relying on ‘ AI ‘ technology for safe travel

Mumbai , Date 28: The safety of common passengers travelling in State Transport Corporation buses is the top priority. For this, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence that these new buses will be safer for travel as ‘ AI ‘ technology-based security system will be installed in smart buses.

The Deputy Chief Minister inspected the IT security system installed in the ‘ Smart Bus ‘ operated by the ST Corporation between Thane-Nagpur today in Thane. He was speaking at the time. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik and ST officials were present on this occasion.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Shinde said that the journey in ST buses , which currently provide communication services to an average of 55 lakh passengers every day, should be made safer. For this purpose, an “Integrated Safety System” based on AI technology will be installed in the new buses. Along with CCTV cameras that monitor the movement of passengers sitting in the bus from the driver’s driving style, WiFi , LED screens , GPS systems and foam-based fire prevention systems will also be installed.

This device will enable women to travel safely and will make it easier for the driver to drive. Also, even if he has been drinking or is falling asleep, the siren will immediately tell the passengers, so that they can travel safely, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Shinde said on this occasion.

This system is being installed due to the continuous efforts of Transport Minister Mr. Sarnaik. He has taken the initiative to make radical changes in ST by considering future changes , the Deputy Chief Minister praised on this occasion. 

This ‘ smart bus ‘ of the transport corporation has been installed with Advanced Driver Assistance System ( ADAS) and driver observation cameras. Also , blind spot cameras have been installed to provide all 360- degree information to the driver.

Apart from this, for the safety of passengers, two cameras have been installed in the passenger compartment , one each at the front and rear, in the bus. Also, a driver assistance screen , mobile GPS tracking system , LCD screen and public address system have been implemented.
