Initiative aims to strengthen rural governance, boost public participation, and expand healthcare access across 431 gram panchayats

Thane, September 17: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the “Seva Pakhwada” and “Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayatraj Abhiyan” at Khoni-Vadvali Gram Panchayat, Kalyan. The district-level launch marked the rollout of several central and state government schemes designed to enhance rural development, healthcare, sanitation, and public participation.

Speaking at the event, Shinde said the campaign was launched in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, which coincided with the nationwide rollout of welfare initiatives such as the Sashakt Naari-Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan. He emphasized that 431 gram panchayats in Thane district will participate in the program to transform villages with better roads, lighting, water facilities, and schools. “A self-reliant village makes for a self-reliant district,” Shinde declared.

Highlighting women-centric initiatives, Shinde confirmed that the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana would continue, with a special focus on cancer screening and early treatment for women under the campaign. He urged villagers to take advantage of the schemes to ensure employment and development at the local level.

District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal outlined how the Seva Pakhwada would deliver citizen-focused services, including pathway construction, housing deeds, sand mining regulation, Setu Seva Kendras, and Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras.

The event also saw the unveiling of several welfare activities:

  • Harit Maharashtra, Samruddha Maharashtra plantation drive (1.54 lakh trees)
  • Ayushman Bharat card distribution
  • Baby care kits for expectant mothers
  • Cleanliness kits for sanitation workers
  • Housing deeds under the ‘Homes for All’ scheme
  • Financial aid distribution for differently-abled citizens
