12,000 Trainees Secured Jobs in Just Six Months Through Campus Interviews

Mumbai, August 2025 — The Skill Development Training Centre set up by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at Kandivali (East) is fast emerging as a beacon of opportunity for youth in Mumbai and across Maharashtra. Over the past six months alone, the centre has helped 12,000 trainee students secure jobs through campus recruitment drives and job fairs

A Bridge Between Industry and Employment

The initiative, guided by BMC Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani, was designed to bridge the gap between industry requirements and skill training. The BMC’s Planning Department coordinated with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), signing an MoU to formalise the partnership.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been appointed as the lead agency to operate the centre, ensuring training aligns with the needs of employers and the latest market trends.

Wide Range of Training — From Traditional Skills to Modern Technology

The Kandivali centre offers courses in:

  • Hotel Management
  • Sales and Management
  • Air Conditioning System Repairs
  • Textile and Garment Industry
  • Photoshop, 3D Animation, VFX
  • Cyber Security
  • Japanese Language Training
  • Door-to-door Food Delivery Skills
  • Basic Computer Training
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Financial Literacy

Training programmes range from one week to one month, followed by two months of on-the-job training. Students are also prepared for interviews, communication, and personality development, ensuring they are industry-ready.

Quality Training with Industry Leaders

The centre has the capacity to train 10,000 students annually. Courses are conducted with the support of renowned organisations like NASSCOM, Apparel Sector Skill Council, CII Foundation, MCC, Bajaj, Cosmos Creative Academy, Blue Star, and ITC Hotels.

State-of-the-art facilities, industry-standard curriculum, and practical sessions build confidence and provide real-world exposure for trainees.

Job Fairs — Direct Pathway to Employment

In the past six months, job fairs held at the centre have resulted in thousands of students securing employment with reputed companies. Direct interaction with industry representatives and campus interviews have created a smooth pathway from learning to earning.

Simple and Open Admission Process

Interested students or job seekers from any BMC administrative ward can contact their local ward office or call 8452945439 for more information, as per the announcement by BMC Director (Planning) Dr. Prachi Jambhekar.

A Project with a Wider Impact

This initiative is not restricted to Mumbai residents alone — young men and women from across Maharashtra are enrolling, gaining skills, and entering the workforce. By combining skill enhancement with self-reliance, the project stands as a strong example of sustainable development.
