To avail benefits under the Revised Weather-Based Fruit Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) and the Modified Crop Insurance Scheme, it is now mandatory for farmers to obtain a Farmer Identification Number (Farmer ID) under the Agristack initiative, announced Balaji Tate, Divisional Joint Director of Agriculture, Konkan Division, Thane.

Under the WBCIS for Mrug Bahar 2025, chikoo (sapota) crop will be covered in Thane and Palghar districts. Similarly, for Ambe Bahar 2025-26, insurance will be provided for mango, cashew, and banana crops in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts, based on climate risk parameters.

Additionally, the Modified Crop Insurance Scheme will be implemented from Kharif 2025 for paddy, ragi, and urad (black gram) crops.

As per the Government Resolution dated April 11, 2025, a Farmer ID has been made compulsory from April 15, 2025, for availing any benefits under agriculture department schemes. The official GR is available on the Maharashtra Government’s portal: www.maharashtra.gov.in.

Farmers who have not yet registered for their Farmer ID are urged to immediately register through the Agristack portal. For further assistance, they are advised to contact their nearest Taluka Agriculture Officer.

The state is taking this step to streamline beneficiary identification and ensure timely and transparent disbursement of scheme benefits to genuine farmers.
