Governor Honours 83 Maharashtra Police Officers With President’s Medals
Gallantry, Distinguished and Meritorious Service Recognised at Raj Bhavan Ceremony
In a formal Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, Governor of Maharashtra C. P. Radhakrishnan conferred President’s Police Medals upon 83 police officers and personnel for their exemplary service, gallantry, and distinguished contributions to the force.
The decorated officers were recipients of medals announced by the President of India during Independence Day celebrations in 2021 and 2022. The awards include the Police Gallantry Medal, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Out of the total awardees:
- 41 police officers and personnel received the Police Gallantry Medal,
- 3 senior officers were honoured with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and
- 39 officers and personnel were recognised for Meritorious Service.
The event, held in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, was graced by Minister of State for Home (Rural) Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Commandant General of Home Guards Ritesh Kumar, DG of Maharashtra Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Archana Tyagi, and Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. Retired officers and families of the honourees were also in attendance.
This recognition comes at a time when the Maharashtra Police Force continues to face complex law and order challenges, underscoring the importance of bravery, long service, and dedication to public safety.
