Candidates Lose Crucial Time As NTA Faces Complaints Over Exam Mismanagement

The AIAPGET 2025 examination conducted at SM High School, Bhayander has come under intense scrutiny following severe technical glitches and administrative failures that disrupted the exam experience of approximately 30 candidates. The candidates have submitted detailed complaints, highlighting how these failures could irreparably damage their academic prospects in this highly competitive national entrance test.

One of the most alarming issues reported was the complete technical breakdown in Lab 1, where about 30 students faced blinking and blank computer screens from 9:00 AM onwards. Despite the systems being non-functional, the exam timer continued running, leaving students with no means to attempt questions. The issue persisted for several hours, with students being shifted to alternative functioning systems only after 12:00 PM. This resulted in many losing between 45 minutes to over an hour of crucial exam time. In some cases, candidates could not log in at all. The centre’s Site Preparation Representative (SPR) cited a “central server issue,” although the problem was confined to Lab 1, raising questions about the explanation provided.

Beyond technical failures, candidates described a chaotic exam environment. Disruptions included loud announcements, such as the playing of Jana Gana Mana during active exam hours, and school children creating noise while running in nearby corridors. This compromised the concentration of candidates who were already grappling with technical difficulties.

The situation was exacerbated by administrative lapses. Entry at the centre commenced after 9:00 AM, despite candidates being asked to report by 8:00 AM. Many students underwent multiple rounds of verification, further delaying the start of their exam. Lab assignments were reportedly shuffled until as late as 9:45 AM, adding to confusion. Basic exam protocols were neglected — rough sheets were not distributed on time, and mandatory instructions were not provided at the start. Alarmingly, no invigilator was present during the peak of the technical crisis, forcing students to leave their seats and seek help on their own.

Affected candidates have formally requested the NTA to launch an immediate investigation into the mismanagement at SM High School, Bhayander. They are urging for appropriate redressal measures, including the possibility of a re-examination for those impacted. The representation warns that the lack of timely remedial action could jeopardize the academic futures of sincere aspirants.

The NTA has yet to respond to these serious allegations. The incident underscores the urgent need for reforms in the administration of national-level exams, with a focus on ensuring technical robustness and accountability.
