BMC Honours Bridge Department Engineers for Timely Completion of Key Mumbai Projects
Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani presents certificates, lauds engineers for overcoming complex administrative challenges
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday formally felicitated officers and engineers from its Bridge Department for their crucial contribution in completing several important bridge projects in Mumbai within stipulated timelines.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the BMC headquarters, where Bhushan Gagrani, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, presented certificates of appreciation to engineers involved in landmark bridge works across the city.
Senior civic officials including Abhijit Bangar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), and Chief Engineer (Bridges) Uttam Shrote, along with several engineers from the Bridge Department, were present at the event.
On the occasion, Chief Engineer (Bridges) Uttam Shrote was also felicitated on his retirement, with Commissioner Gagrani presenting him a bouquet in recognition of his long and distinguished service to the civic body.
Speaking at the event, Gagrani said that the successful and timely execution of critical bridge infrastructure—often under severe administrative, logistical and traffic constraints—would not have been possible without the dedication, technical expertise and coordinated efforts of the Bridge Department’s officers and engineers.
Among the projects recognised were the Bandra East Skywalk, Bellasis Bridge, and Safed Pool, all of which were completed under challenging administrative and execution conditions. Engineers associated with these projects were honoured for their role in delivering safe and efficient infrastructure for Mumbai’s commuters.
For the Bandra East Skywalk project, certificates were awarded to Executive Engineer Namdev Ravkale, Assistant Engineer Prashant Javale, Junior Engineer Sameer More, and Junior Engineer Amit Dasurkar for their significant contributions.
Engineers honoured for the Bellasis Bridge project included Deputy Chief Engineer Rajesh Mule, Executive Engineer Namdev Ravkale, Assistant Engineer Sandeep Patil, Junior Engineer Krupal Khot, and Junior Engineer Abhishek Devalekar.
Similarly, for the Safed Pool project, certificates were presented to then Executive Engineer Naresh Meghrajani, Assistant Engineer Amit Bhandari, Junior Engineer Chandrakant Vhatkar, and Junior Engineer Ashishkumar Jain.
The civic administration noted that these projects play a vital role in improving urban mobility and pedestrian safety across Mumbai. The ceremony underscored the BMC’s emphasis on recognising engineering excellence and accountability in the delivery of large-scale public infrastructure.
