Urgent Action Should Be Taken on Proposals to Build a Farmers’ Building

Mumbai, Date 12: The proposal for the construction of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Shetkari Bhavan at Karjat Taluka Agricultural Produce Market Committee should be submitted to the government by the Director (Farmers). Also, the Agricultural Produce Market Committee has submitted a proposal seeking construction permission for Shetkari Bhavan at Jamkhed. The Director (Farmers) should immediately approve this proposal, directed the Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Prof. Ram Shinde.

A review meeting on issues related to the Agricultural Produce Market Committees in Karjat and Jamkhed was held at Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai under the chairmanship of Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde. On this occasion, Principal Secretary of the Cooperation and Marketing Department Praveen Darade, Joint Secretary V.L. Lahane, office bearers of the Taluka Agricultural Produce Market Committee as well as Director of the Marketing Department Mr. Rasal and Deputy Director Mr. Nimbalkar (via video conferencing) were present.

Approval has been given by a government decision on April 22, 2025, to construct a Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Shetkari Bhavan at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee in Jamkhed. Government subsidy will be provided up to 50 percent for the construction of this Shetkari Bhavan, and the remaining 50 percent of the funds will be made available by the Market Committee from its own funds or loans.

The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Shetkari Bhavan will be built in every taluka of the state and the government has taken a decision in this regard in December 2023. Accordingly, the proposal for the construction of Shetkari Bhavan in Karjat as well as other matters submitted by the Market Committee as per the rules should also be approved immediately, as instructed by Chairman Prof. Shinde.
