Mahajyoti Trainee Sagar Nathe Secures All-India 6th Rank In UPSC Water Conservation Exam
Farmer’s Son From Yavatmal Joins As Group ‘B’ Officer, Credits Free Training And Financial Aid For Success
Thane, August 7 – In a remarkable achievement for Maharashtra’s OBC, VJNT and SBC communities, Sagar Gajanan Nathe, a trainee of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (Mahajyoti), Nagpur, has secured the 6th rank in the 2024 UPSC Water Conservation Officer/Scientist (Civil Engineering) Group ‘B’ examination. He has now joined the Water Resources Department in Umarkhed, Yavatmal district as a Group ‘B’ Scientific Officer.
Mahajyoti Managing Director Prashant Wawge hailed the success as a historic moment, stating that Sagar’s journey exemplifies the institute’s social commitment-based training model. Founded to provide quality coaching, hostel facilities, and stipends to backward-class students for competitive exams, Mahajyoti has consistently produced outstanding results in national-level services.
From Farmer’s Fields To National Service
Born into a farming family, Sagar completed his schooling in local Zilla Parishad and secondary schools in Umra, facing significant financial hurdles for higher education. In 2022, he cleared Mahajyoti’s Preliminary Examination Scheme, earning 11 months of free high-quality training and a stipend.
This support enabled him to work in various state government bodies, including the National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning (Nagpur), Land Records Department (Akola), and Water Resources Department (Hingoli). Yet, his ultimate goal was the UPSC exam — a dream he realized through perseverance and Mahajyoti’s structured training.
“I consider Mahajyoti not just an institute, but a source of inspiration that helped me overcome obstacles,” said Sagar Nathe. “The stipend supported my education when finances were tight, and the disciplined training environment prepared me for the UPSC challenge.”
Government Applauds The Achievement
Atul Save, Minister for Other Backward Bahujan Welfare and President of Mahajyoti, praised the institute’s high-standard training methods, calling Sagar’s achievement a testament to Mahajyoti’s quality-focused approach. He noted that students from the institute have consistently excelled in various competitive exams, making the entire OBC community proud.
“This is not just a personal success but an inspirational story for the new generation,” said Save.
