The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has issued a public notice through its Information and Public Relations Department, cautioning residents against admitting their children to unrecognized and unauthorized schools operating in the region.

As the admission season for the academic year 2025–26 begins, the MBMC’s Education Department has conducted a detailed survey under the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009 and the Government Resolution dated June 19, 2010. Based on the findings, five schools within Mira Bhayandar city limits have been flagged as operating without proper government recognition or authorization.

The list of unauthorized schools is as follows:

  1. Kanakdhara English School – Near Bombay Market, Station Road, Bhayandar (West)
  2. Trinity School – Kajupada, Ghodbunder Road, Bhayandar, District Thane
  3. Viraj School – Mashacha Pada, Kashimira, Mira Road, District Thane
  4. Nova School – Near Shiv Mandir, Dachkulpada, Bhayandar, District Thane
  5. St. John’s Mar Thoma School – Ramdev Park, Mira Road (East), District Thane

MBMC has strongly appealed to the public not to enroll their children in these schools to avoid jeopardizing their academic future and to prevent any potential fraud. Parents are advised to thoroughly verify the recognition and legitimacy of any school before seeking admission.

Additionally, MBMC has reminded citizens that under Section 18(5) of the Right to Education Act, 2009, operating a school without government approval is illegal. Citizens who come across any such unauthorized school are urged to report the information in writing to the MBMC’s Education Department immediately.

The MBMC has also issued a direct warning to the management and operators of the aforementioned schools. They are instructed to immediately cease operations and seek proper recognition through the prescribed legal procedures. Failing to comply may result in criminal proceedings under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code — IPC Sections 316, 308(1), and 3(1).

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator RadhaVinod A. Sharma (IAS) has called upon all schools and parents to remain vigilant and responsible about children’s education and avoid any association with unauthorized institutions.
