Mediation Awareness Drive Held At Belapur Family Court Highlights Peaceful Dispute Resolution
Interactive Skit Demonstrates How Couples Can Settle Conflicts Without Litigation
A public awareness programme on mediation and amicable dispute resolution was held at the Belapur Family Court, Navi Mumbai, on 6 December 2025 at 2.30 pm, drawing strong participation from judges, advocates, court staff and citizens. The event aimed to reinforce the idea that family disputes need not always end in long, adversarial court battles, and that mediation offers a faster, healthier and more harmonious alternative.
The programme was chaired by Judge Subhash Kafre, Family Court, Belapur. Senior members of the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association, including Vice-President Sandeep Ramkar and Secretary Vikas Mhatre, were present on the dais. Advocate Sheetal Gaikwad hosted the event, while trained mediator Adv. Mohit Mokal delivered the introductory remarks, explaining how mediation benefits families caught in conflict and reduces emotional and financial strain.
A special highlight was a short skit conceptualised by Judge Kafre, showcasing the emotional turmoil caused by marital disputes and their ripple effects on children and extended family. The performance demonstrated how a couple, initially locked in conflict, finds a constructive path through court-annexed mediation, ultimately reconciling and rebuilding their marriage.
The skit featured advocates Vandana Dalvi, Shobha Patil, Sandhya Sawant, Krishna Pawar, Prasad Mhadavi, Vishakha Jadhav, Kiran Bhosale, along with court staff members Kanchan Kirve (Senior Clerk) and Raj Nikam (Assistant). All the participants were felicitated with certificates jointly presented by the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association and the Family Court, Belapur.
Representatives from the Sukoon Project, legal services personnel, family court staff, counsellors and litigants were also present, adding depth to the programme’s outreach. Manager Ganesh Hirve delivered the vote of thanks, noting that the initiative had significantly strengthened public understanding of mediation as a powerful tool for early, cost-effective and emotionally balanced dispute resolution.
The event reinforced a crucial message: mediation is not merely a legal process but a community-building tool, helping families restore stability without prolonged courtroom conflict.
