Mira Bhayandar Civic Body Disburses Retirement Benefits On The Same Day
Five municipal employees receive full benefits immediately upon retirement, ending long wait cycles
In a notable administrative reform, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has initiated a system to ensure same-day disbursal of retirement benefits to its outgoing employees. On 31st July 2025, five municipal staff members—clerk Dayanand Shingare, fireman Vasant Bhoir, and sanitation workers Krishnamurthy ViraSwamy, Hareshwar Gharat, and Perumal Mutulingam—were granted their complete retirement entitlements on the very day of their superannuation.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod Sharma (IAS), MBMC has implemented a monthly practice to provide retiring employees with gratuity, leave encashment, and pension finalizations on the same day of retirement. This is a significant change from earlier procedures, which required retirees to make multiple visits to civic offices, often delaying access to their rightful benefits.
The shift comes as part of Sharma’s broader initiative to reduce bureaucratic red tape and improve employee dignity. According to MBMC officials, the goal is to recognize the long-standing dedication of municipal workers by ensuring a respectful and smooth transition into retirement.
On this occasion, all five retirees were honored in a brief ceremony, where they were presented with their benefits. The retirees expressed emotional gratitude, acknowledging the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and department heads for this prompt and dignified handling of their retirement.
This initiative is expected to become a monthly standard procedure, potentially serving as a model for other municipal corporations in Maharashtra and beyond.
