“Let’s Embrace Cleanliness, Drive Away Illness” Campaign Kicks Off With Focus On Student Participation, Waste Segregation

Mira Bhayandar, July 10 – In a fresh effort to climb national rankings under the Swachh Survekshan 2025 mission, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) launched a month-long public awareness campaign titled “Let’s Embrace Cleanliness, Drive Away Illness”. The initiative was officially inaugurated on July 10 at the Lata Mangeshkar Natya Gruha auditorium by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod A. Sharma (IAS).

The campaign will be run from July 1 to July 31, 2025, and aims to instil a stronger public sense of hygiene, community responsibility, and proactive waste management across the city. Speaking at the event, Commissioner Sharma extended wishes on the occasion of Guru Purnima, urging citizens to support sanitation workers by adopting responsible waste practices.

Our sanitation staff work tirelessly from dawn to keep the city clean. If every citizen avoids plastic, segregates waste, and follows basic cleanliness, our city will definitely shine brighter on the national stage,” Sharma stated during his address.

A key highlight of the campaign is the revival of “Swachhatechi Pathshala – Chapter 2”, an education-focused initiative aimed at school children. Under this, students will be trained in the importance of waste segregation through the Segregation100@Home model, which promotes classification of household waste into four distinct categories.

Additional modules include QR code-based waste tracking, and training in modern solid waste management techniques. To facilitate this, special training workshops for teachers have been organized in collaboration with Bisleri and MBMC.

During the launch, Poornima Shinde from Bisleri led an informative session for teachers, emphasizing plastic-free living, recycling, and the broader impact of sustainable habits.

The event was well-attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sachin Bangar, Assistant Commissioner Yogesh Gunijan, other civic officials, sanitation inspectors, educators, and a large number of enthusiastic students.
