Mira Bhayandar Launches ‘RRR School’ Initiative To Promote Waste Reduction And Recycling
One-Month Campaign Targets 1.34 Lakh Students Across 368 Schools; Builds On National Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 Recognition
The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has launched an innovative campaign — ‘RRR Chi Pathshala’ (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) — under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhta’ initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. The programme, inaugurated on 14 August 2025 at Sw. Pramod Mahajan Hall under the guidance of Commissioner & Administrator Radhabinod A. Sharma, will run for a month and involve 1,34,000 students from 368 schools.
This comes after MBMC won the President’s Award for being the cleanest city in India in the 3–10 lakh population category under Swachh Survekshan 2024-25. The civic body has been consistently introducing measures to keep the city clean and green.
Hands-On Environmental Education
‘RRR Chi Pathshala’ will operate at RRR centres and schools, where high-quality reusable items — such as clothes, utensils, toys, and footwear — donated by citizens are displayed attractively. The aim is to teach students about reuse culture, optimal resource use, and environmental conservation through direct experience.
Students will also witness live demonstrations of the journey of household waste from collection to processing. Awareness films will be screened, and Waste-to-Art exhibitions will showcase useful items and artworks made from waste, reinforcing the message that “waste is a resource” and “today’s discarded item can be tomorrow’s treasure.”
Focus On Plastic Waste Management
The initiative includes hands-on training for students in plastic waste management — discouraging single-use plastics, promoting alternatives, and explaining scientific recycling methods. MBMC hopes to instil eco-friendly habits, responsible citizenship, and the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle lifestyle among young citizens.
