Commissioner Radhabinod Sharma leads joint review with police and civic officials; urges citizens to follow safety, environment norms

In preparation for Ganeshotsav 2025, the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) convened a high-level review meeting on 28 July 2025, chaired by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod A. Sharma (IAS). The session aimed at ensuring that the festival is celebrated in a well-organized, safe and environmentally conscious manner across the city.

Held at the Kalpana Chawla Fire Station, Ward Committee No. 1, the meeting brought together senior officials from MBMC, the Police Department, Traffic Police, and Fire Services. Prominent attendees included Additional Commissioners Dr. Sambhaji Panpatte and Priyanka Rajput, DCP Ashok Virkar, Deputy Commissioners Kalpita Pimpale, Dr. Sachin Bangar and Kavita Borkar, City Engineer Deepak Khambit, Assistant Commissioner Sohel Shaikh, ward officials from Prabhag 1 to 6, and officers from all local police stations.

With Mira-Bhayandar witnessing large-scale public Ganesh celebrations each year, the meeting focused on planning logistics, crowd control, immersion site management, and enforcement of safety and civic regulations.

Commissioner Sharma emphasized that all Ganesh Mandals must strictly follow municipal rules. It is mandatory to obtain prior permissions for erecting mandaps, and as in previous years, the One-Window Scheme will remain active. This scheme allows mandals to secure free permits upon complying with conditions laid down by the civic body, police, traffic department and fire services.

There was detailed discussion about identifying both natural and artificial lakes for immersion, ensuring cleanliness and safety at these sites. MBMC will take charge of decorations, sanitation and crowd management around immersion points.

The Commissioner made a public appeal, urging all Ganesh Mandals and citizens to observe municipal guidelines, celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly and safe manner, and cooperate with authorities throughout the season.
