Muslim Youths Mark Prophet’s Birth Anniversary With Blood Donation Drive

Campaign in Mira Road spreads message of compassion and service through voluntary blood donation

Mira Road (Sajid Mahmood Sheikh): In a unique tribute to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Muslim youths organized a blood donation camp on Sunday, September 7, at the Islamic Center, Mira Road. The initiative coincided with the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet, celebrated worldwide as a symbol of mercy and compassion.

The event was held under the banner of the Youth Movement of Maharashtra, the youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Blood Bank of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. Doctors and nurses from the blood bank supervised the camp, while nearly 60 young Muslim volunteers donated blood as part of the humanitarian effort.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tariq Shah, local head of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mira Road, said the program was inspired by the Prophet’s message: “The best among people is the one who is most beneficial to others.” He emphasized that the best way to honor the Prophet is not just through rituals, but by implementing his teachings in daily life.

Dr. Shah further highlighted that this was the seventh blood donation camp organized by the group, usually conducted two to three times a year. “We aim to inspire both Muslims and the wider society to engage in acts of service that benefit all humanity,” he added.

By linking social welfare with faith, the event sought to bridge religious devotion with civic responsibility. Organizers said they hope more youth will be motivated to see community service as a living expression of faith.
