National Lok Adalat Scheduled on September 13 to Expedite Case Settlements Across Thane District.
Under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Shrinivas Agrawal, a National Lok Adalat will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, for quick resolution of pending and pre-litigation cases. Citizens are encouraged to utilize this opportunity by submitting their cases at the Thane District Court and all taluka-level courts in the district.
Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Judge Ravindra Pajankar, has appealed to litigants to take advantage of this initiative and resolve their cases amicably through the Lok Adalat mechanism.
Lok Adalat rulings are final and binding—no appeals are entertained. Cases are resolved swiftly, bypassing the lengthy court procedures such as witness testimonies, cross-examinations, and prolonged arguments. Since decisions are based on mutual agreement, there is no winner or loser, reducing animosity between parties. The decisions hold the same legal weight as court verdicts and can be enforced through the judicial system. Moreover, parties benefit from savings in both time and legal expenses, and in many cases, court fees are refunded as per law.
The public’s growing awareness of these benefits has led to enthusiastic participation in previous National Lok Adalats held across the Thane district.
Cases Eligible for Lok Adalat Proceedings:
Pre-litigation matters:
- Cheque bounce cases (under NI Act)
- Bank loan recovery disputes

Litigants wishing to resolve their pending or pre-litigation matters in the upcoming National Lok Adalat are advised to contact the Taluka Legal Services Committees or the District Legal Services Authority. Participating in the Lok Adalat offers a unique opportunity to resolve disputes amicably and efficiently, Judge Pajankar added in his appeal.
