Raigad Courts Launch Mediation Campaign To Resolve Pending Cases
Special Drive From July To September Aims To Ease Judicial Burden Through Peaceful Settlements
Raigad, July 14 — In a bid to promote peaceful, dialogue-driven dispute resolution, the District and Taluka Courts in Raigad have launched a Special Mediation Campaign running from July 1 to September 30, 2025. The campaign is being implemented under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajendra Sawant, who also serves as Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Raigad.
Acting on directions from the Main Mediation Centre of the Bombay High Court, the Raigad DLSA is aiming to resolve long-pending, settlement-eligible cases such as family disputes, motor accident compensation claims, cheque bounce cases, partition claims, commercial disputes, and other civil and compoundable criminal matters through mutual agreement and judicial mediation.
The initiative is designed with multiple objectives:
- Reduce judicial backlog in district and lower courts
- Offer stress-free and satisfactory dispute resolution
- Strengthen public faith in the justice system
- Support national peace, development, and legal harmony
Mediation, the organizers emphasized, is not just an individual remedy—it represents a nation-building tool when used systematically to resolve legal friction across communities.
Cases identified as suitable for compromise will be assigned to either judicial mediators or trained lawyer-mediators. Litigants who wish to voluntarily settle their disputes are encouraged to contact the Raigad District Court, concerned Taluka Court, or District Legal Services Authority, Alibag, for inclusion in the campaign.
Tejaswini Nirale, Secretary of the DLSA Raigad, has called upon litigants to actively participate and use this opportunity to resolve their matters amicably and swiftly.
