The Retired Police Officers’ Association of Maharashtra recently submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Thane District Collector Ashok Shingare, demanding redressal of long-pending issues faced by pensioners.

The memorandum, prepared by the association, calls for a comprehensive review of the pension-related concerns of retired Maharashtra Police personnel and other government employees across departments. The All India State Pensioners’ Federation (AISPF) has urged the Prime Minister to instruct the concerned authorities to ensure that pensioners are not deprived of their rightful pensionary benefits.

Prominent representatives present during the submission included Working President Sukhanand Sabde, Vice President Sitaram Nyaynirgune, Vice President of Thane Federation Eng. Mohan Pawar, along with Yashwant Tapase, Arun Deherkar, and Gopal Bhambure.

The AISPF, in line with its nationwide campaign, highlighted the need for formal recognition of the recently passed CCS (Pension) Rules as part of the Finance Bill 2025. The federation pointed out that while the Central Government has clarified post-6th Pay Commission issues through various litigations, there is still a need to limit these provisions solely to their intended scope. Importantly, these should not affect recommendations of future pay commissions.

The memorandum emphasized maintaining parity between past and current pensioners. Notably, the 7th Central Pay Commission upheld parity between those retired before and after January 1, 2016.

The AISPF asserts that pension is a property right, protected as a fundamental right under the 44th Constitutional Amendment. It has called for serious reconsideration of the proposed amendments to the Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972.

The federation’s efforts mark the beginning of a coordinated campaign to unite pensioners across the country and advocate for equitable treatment in line with constitutional protection.
