Departments Directed To Ensure Smooth Festival With Public Safety, Cleanliness And Pollution Control
Thane, August 21: District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal has urged citizens and officials to ensure that this year’s Ganeshotsav is celebrated safely while protecting the environment. Addressing a review meeting at the district collector’s office, Panchal said, “We must remain committed to celebrating without causing inconvenience to citizens.”
The meeting, attended by Additional SP Anmol Mittal, Mira-Bhayandar DCP Rahul Chavan, Resident Dy. Collector Dr. Sandeep Mane and senior officials from revenue, police, municipal bodies, PWD, health and MSRDC, focused on festival preparations.
Key Directives By The Collector
- Repair potholes along immersion routes and ensure pandal construction does not damage roads.
- Implement a single-window system for Ganesh mandal permissions.
- Guarantee 24×7 uninterrupted power supply and immediate repair of unsafe electrical wiring at pandals.
- Fire and safety systems must be ready at immersion sites; stalled vehicles to be removed to avoid traffic congestion.
- Citizens encouraged to buy clay (Shadu mati) idols; awareness campaigns through social media and pamphlets.
- Control noise and water pollution, especially near hospitals and residential areas during processions.
- Set up temporary artificial ponds at crowded immersion sites to protect natural water bodies.
- Strengthen waste management systems, with composting of floral offerings (Nirmalya).
- Deploy medical teams at key sites to handle emergencies; prepare contingency plans for heavy rainfall alerts.
Dr. Panchal emphasized the need for police deployment at sensitive spots and appealed for coordination among all departments, expressing confidence that with proper planning, Ganeshotsav in Thane district will proceed smoothly and peacefully.
