Strict Implementation Of Central Schemes Ordered In Raigad District
MPs Barne And Tatkare Direct Officials To Blacklist Delinquent Contractors; Call For Wider Public Awareness
Raigad, July 14 — Emphasizing the critical need for efficient governance, Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne, chairman of the ‘DISHA’ Committee (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee), directed the Raigad district administration to strictly implement all Central Government schemes. “Laxity will not be tolerated,” Barne warned during the committee’s review meeting, co-chaired by MP Sunil Tatkare.
The high-level meeting, held in the District Planning Committee hall, was convened to assess the progress of key Central schemes across Raigad. It was attended by MP Dhairyasheel Patil, MLA Mahendra Dalvi, District Collector Kishan Jawale, CEO Neha Bhosale, SP Aachal Dalal, Panvel Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, and officers from various departments.
Key schemes reviewed included the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana. MP Tatkare expressed concern over pending works and instructed that non-performing contractors be blacklisted. He also urged that tenders be reissued where necessary and that all road works be completed on a priority basis.
MP Barne stressed that schemes related to water supply, housing, education, and health must reach the common citizen. He called for widespread publicity of Central Government schemes, especially through prominent displays at sites of direct public benefit, along with clear beneficiary criteria.
Despite previous directions, disability welfare camps under the National Social Assistance Programme had not been conducted, prompting sharp criticism from public representatives. Barne instructed the District Collector and Health Department to organize these camps without further delay.
MP Tatkare further advised including disabled persons in schemes like the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme.
The meeting also addressed targets under Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), with a goal of constructing 1,500 individual and 150 public toilets. Solid waste management in Gram Panchayat areas, especially rapidly growing regions like Panvel Taluka, was discussed in depth.
Discussions were also held on the effective use of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds, with instructions to ensure that companies invest in local priority areas. Barne emphasized the potential of development charges to fund district-level progress if redirected properly.
Other issues discussed included water supply projects, housing loan deductions under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana)—which banks have been instructed to halt—mangrove protection, and telecom infrastructure (BSNL towers).
Detailed presentations were given on a wide array of schemes such as PM Suryaghar Yojana, CM Solar Agriculture Feeder Scheme, MNREGA, Jal Jeevan Mission, Atal Bhujal Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat, Skill Development Programs, and urban governance schemes under Nagar Parishads.
